  1. Texas pretty much broke away from Mexico in the Texas Revolution. Its independence was recognized in the Treaties of Velasco. However, the Republic's independence wasn't truly recognized until the end of the Mexican-American War.

  2. It's been a while, but I'll try to remember the paper I did on it in middle school.

Texas broke away form Mexico. Texas didn't want to be a part of the United States at the time. So Texas became it's own country. I think that's the jist of it in a really short kind of way.

If you want to know the longer and probably more correct version, check out Wikipedia. When in doubt, look on Wikipedia.

  3. ( im not sure of the year) but at that time, Texas didn't wanna be part of the United States. So it was claimed by Mexico. Then after a couple years, it broke away from Mexico, which started a war. then Texas became the 28th state to join the United States in 1845.

  4. Texas has had Six Flags flown over it.

(the company Six Flags has originated in Texas)

As far as why, thats quite a broad question, try:

Basically it was land that was wanted by many nations. Before the USA controlled it it was part of Mexico, I belive it was its own country before that.
