Question:

Why was that moron who mowed down and killed a teenager with his bike not charged with manslaughter?

The excuse the judge gave for the woeful sentence of a fine was that that was the maximum he could give for "dangerous cycling", but if someone deliberately hits someone with any object knowing that it could lead to their death, they are guilty of manslaughter.

So why wasn't this idiot thus charged and jailed?

  1. The sentence was too light.

The sentencing relies too much on the judges.

Would it not be better to leave the sentencing to the jury?

  2. I always tell my wife to put her hand through the window when passing one and push the twerp off. They are an outright danger on main roads.

  3. Too right!!! Sadly anyone who kills someone, whether it be on a bike, or in a car, seem to get off very lightly.

It narks me, that a canoeist who fakes his own death, will be given a long prison sentence. Yes, I know he deserves to be punished, but I bet he gets a longer sentence than any hit and run driver, or drunk driver.

A car or cycle should be classed as a dangerous weapon, when not being used properly, as far more people lose their lives to idiots driving dangerously, or drunk, than knife crime. It's about time the justice system realised this, and start dishing out tougher sentences for lives taken by dangerous driving.

  4. My sentiments entierly. Bloody idiot should be slung in prison.

  5. As the saying goes, my friend.... The law is an a/s/s!

  6. I agree with you 100%

  7. Accidents can happen and they can happen to any one of us.  I knew someone who was a very careful driver, we all complained about his slow driving.  (This was years ago before speed cameras).  This person killed a child who ran out in front of his car!!

  8. Hanging is to good for the moron and the sooner these people have to pay to ride bikes the better. If it was a motorist, he or she would be charged and sent down so why not a moron in charge of a bike.

  9. He should have gone to prison, if a car driver he would have.

Some cyclists are just fascists in disguise. Cycling on pavements is my biggest bugbear. One day i will knock the next t**t who cycles on one and comes at me at speed. Pavements are for pedestrians, time they were licenced and had insurance. And I used to be a cyclist, know rules of the road, and feel now many just don't give a toss.

Dfly      an eye witness said she was not in the road but on the pavement and he was as many cyclists do riding on it and at speed. And i too cycled to work but i did so on the road where all bikes should be. Pedestrians have to jump out of the way, and be very aware where cyclists are at all times.

for fear of being mown down, sworn at, and killed. I live in a pretty built up area and a street near us is a nightmare, they have installed proper cycle lanes and a cycle area but do they use them, no they don't. And having watched yet again yesterday a moronic woman ride over a red light nearly knocking me down into the bargain i find it reprehensible that cyclists constantly get away with it. Time for you all to be licenced and insured like motorists.

  10. Did you actually bother reading the full story? The things is the "victim" was actually standing in the the road and refused to move whilst hurling abuse at the cyclist. He now has to live with what was ultimately a terrible accident for the rest of his life which is punishment enough, especially considering it is very grey how much he is actually to blame (I would say only 50%). If you regularly ride a bicycle to work you will understand that this kind of ignorant behiouvour is common place and very frustrating.

  11. actually i believe he shouted get out the way i aint gonna stop! like an arrogant pig so yes he should of got manslaughter or at least swerved out of her way.x

  12. Because he didn't deliberately hit her and so he wasn't guilty of manslaughter.

  13. I was astounded by this as well.

Is it not about time that the law included the sentence of dangerous cycling for goodness sake.

If that was someone in my family then I am afraid I would do my own justice!
