Shouldn't Obama have planned his speech for a day that is significant for ALL Americans and not just blacks? Is Obama indicating he will be a President that favors blacks over everyone else?

  1. I think his campaign planned it that way because the king speech was a pivotal point in american history that sparked change in america and the chicago convention right was a sign of america being tired of the same ole politics. kind of what we have going on right now.

and as for Sam maybe your town is full of close minded a$$holes like you and that's we he didn't bother to speak to your @$$!

Obama 08 it time for change! a change in all of us. like he said we must do it together people!

  2. Come now, you don't really expect Obama to have an original and good thought do you.  If he had half a brain, he wouldn't have made all those mistakes in his speeches AND he's have a lot more people voting for him in stead of losing this election like he is.  He came to my town and talked to one high school's seniors and let no one else in to listen to him speak.  In that respect, Buttock Insane Obama is as stupid as Kerry was when he came to this town and did basically the same thing.

You do know that MLK was a republican don't you.  Leave it up to Obama to s***w up something just because he doesn't like MLK's party.

    McCain IS our new president.

  3. It's also the anniversary of the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention bloody riot.

  4. cause he believes he is the messiah of america and believes he is as important as MLK

  5. coincidence

  6. It's awful sad to think that not everyone understands that the I Have A Dream Speech, not only in its historical significance but also its content IS significant for all Americans.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

This is of course one of the most famous lines from MLK's speech to which you refer.  I think it should be pretty obvious that this is NOT about favoring one race over another, but ending a favoritism for one race over another, which, though much progress has been made, still lingers in our social institutions, neighborhoods and minds.

  7. Martin Luther King did good things for all people.not just black people.I don't know why Obama chose the same day.

  8. Brandon was obviously too stubborn to watch obama's speech and hear him say "this has never been about me, its about you."

Obama chose that specific day because he is all about change, the notion that when americans work together anything is possible, and the american dream. What better day embodies and carries the spirit of these things than the day when americans of every creed and walk of life joined and announced, as Obama did, enough! Obama is proving that the change he promises is possible through historical evidence, namely, MLK's speech.

It's sad that there are people out there that think that MLk's speech only affected black people.
