  1. It funded the first successful permanent English settlement in the New World in the form of Jamestown, Virginia. It was a testament that the New World is indeed livable and serve to dispel the disappointment of failed previous settlements such as Raleigh's Roanoke.

    From that, the English gained more confidence and lead to the eventual expansion of their colonies and conquest of North America.
