Why was the bombing in pearl harbor considered the most signifcant days in US history. Also how did it affect the u.s in world war II ?

-The bombing on Pearl Harbor is significant because the Japanese could've weaken the U.S. if they destroyed many of the ships that were held there.

- The bombing got the U.S. to let go of the neutrality acts and help win the war against Germany and Japan.

While I admit it was significant, I question whether it was the  most significant day of all US history--what about Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown?   Or Appotomax?

They've under estimated the Japanese bombers' capabilities of flying all the way from Japan to Pearl Harbour.  I'm not sure about the effect it had on US over the WWII but the bombing did gave US the green light to drop nuclear bomb at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It was a staggering blow to the US and if they had been a touch smarter, could have crippled us to the point were we could not have fought in the pacific
