  1. modern technology was used such as, rifled cannons which had greater accuracy and destructive power look at bombardment of Fort Pulaski for examples, also Repeating rifles were used, ships made of all iron example Merrimac/c.s.s Virginia, first ship with a turret example u.s.s. moniter.


  2. Basically Wars before that would have people stand in lines and shoot at each other. Those with the most would win. This was still done in the beginning. Very wealthy people would go to the country side and watch the battles on the sidelines.

    It changed to more of ambushes, stealth and using for the first time the iron plated ships.  

  3. because it was fought with guns, and both sides didn't just line up and shoot at eachother till the other side ran out of men
