Many of those people who left were not even in danger. There were many improvements already made.

  1. Oh, but let one person die and we'd have to hear about that one for another three years, wouldn't we?  Apparently you can't satisfy anyone...

  2. Have you ever been in a Hurricane?  Better safe than sorry.  Been there twice - left both times.  Glad I did - only lost everything I own once.  So, more people that get involved better off i say.

  3. Glad you are so positive that no one was in danger.

    Every hurricane is a danger.

Not one life was lost as a result of this hurricane.

    Haven't you heard?

Come on down to the Gulf this month.  Maybe you can have a few laughs.

There's two more forming if you didn't know, aside from Gustav and Hanna.

Those levees are not complete and are very worrisome to everyone.

  4. Ever heard the tried-and-true saying, "Better safe than sorry." Three years ago the government was catchin' h**l for not doing enough, now they're catchin' h**l for doing too much. (.....sigh...)

  5. They had to get involved due to the mess up when Katrina hit three years ago. They had to send in the NG to prevent looting.

  6. There was a lackadaisical attitude last time amongst the populace, and then they expected to be saved right away... poor planning all over, especially at the local level, and the Bush Administration got the blame for it. This time, it's the opposite reaction, an over-reaction perhaps, but the memories of 3 yrs ago are still very fresh in the minds of those in the gulf.
