I looked at the scorecard of the 29th IPL match and it said that the game went only to 16.0 overs, why is that?

  1. Because of rain interruption  when Kolkata Knight Riders were batting, the innings were curtained to 16 overseach side.

  2. becoz of bad weather, rain.

  3. The rain had delayed it

  4. Rain reduced the game to a 16 overs per side affair and after a lengthy delay, the Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bat.

  5. Match started late due to rain earlier in the day and it took a

while for the ground staff to clean out. Water was there all over

the field, even though it was covered - but they had to suck the

water with a pump. It took more than 30-45 mins and hence

that delayed the game. As per the rules of IPL, in such events

the umpires check the time lost and accordingly set the number

of overs per side. Hence it was 16 overs set with one bowler

allowed for 4 overs and all others 3 overs. Power play was reduced to 4 overs as well.
