Why was the tv ever called the boob tube?

there is a bird, the booby. apparently this comes from the spanish for bobo or stupid. people would call others stupid by using  boob, booby or booby bird. so when the early critics of tv were saying it was intellectually empty, it was fit for b***s, or boobies. then it was an easy step to get the little rhyme going with boob-tube. the tube fit only for the stupid.

Because TVs used to have picture tubes.  I think they still do though.  At least some of them, and a lot of the shows on TV were kind of stupid and people would sit around and watch them while not getting any mental stimulation or instead of reading books, so people would become dumb, like a boob.

It wasn't because of Charlie's Angels or Three's Company.  Not those kinds of b***s.

It's called a boob tube, because boob used to be a slang term (still is) for a stupid person.  Someone that watches way too much tv is obviously a stupid person because they can't do anything better with their time.  And tv was a tube that fed straight into their living rooms.

I guess it's because back in the 70's when cable first came about there was a lot less censorship and a lot more nudity.

I could be totally wrong, but that's my guess.
