I personally think this guy boarded them up, killed the wife and daughter and the rest of the animals, and done a runner. Heavily in debt, house about to be repossessed and other things only now coming out of the woodwork about his shady dealings.

Whoever is responsible made sure nobody was getting in there until the place had burnt to the ground. Reason behind this is to make sure no DNA was left. On the other hand they were either very smart or very stupid as they left bullet cases everywhere. Plenty of DNA on them, so when they do get someone for this they are well and truly nicked.

As previously said they were probably boarded up to prevent egress from the property, this is going to be a major and complicated investigation,I am sure there will be many twists in this sorry tale, watch this space.

Because he wanted to make double d**n sure that nobody got in in time to help them, and that nobody could get out. Tragic really.
