Why was there such a worldwide frenzy around JFK when he campaigned/won the White House?

No one mentioned Catholicism. Anyway, I was trying to find out what the big thing was with him. It had to be more than the first Catholic and being good looking.

And to the one answerer, it was pretty big worldwide with JFK. You sound a bit defensive about the USA. lol

  1. Because he offered hope and change.

    He was young and attractive and so was his wife.

    He was the first president who took advantage of the new media of the 50's:  television.


  2. at my age I can remember kids teenagers mean they were gonna vote for JFK 'cause he is catholic and they were catholic also .they didn't say he was good or bad just to use the same religion .is a nice speech he was given praise ,just remember who sent all the new military to Vietnam and who expanded it I think they were democrats .

  3. Trust me the 'frenzy' is less than world wide, outside America it's not even the first article on the news.  Kennedy had more charisma and was probably less of of love/hate figure in the US.
