Question:

Why wasn't Dan Brown ever Sued?

There is enough false information in his movies to have been grounds for a lawsuit. I know at one time The Holy Catholic Church threatened to sue him; now why wasn't this ever pursued? Hidden secrets and boyhood fables wasn't what the Masons and the Templar's were about!

  1. His stories were fiction and therefore the books were not saying facts.

  2. His books are FICTION. He never said they were true. It was just a story.

  3. His books are fiction, meaning NOT REAL. If he had said that they were non-fiction, then it may have been possible for him to be sued.

If you feel he needs to be sued, then don't read his books.

  4. He wasn't sued because there was no grounds to sue him.

why would be be singled out to be sued by a church.  Most churches don't like about half of what is written in novels.  If churches started suing authors the churches would be paying lawyers instead of helping people which is what is supposed to be the church mission

  5. He wrote fiction, and I'm sure the Vatican can not say to much as they have a lot of dirty secrets.

  6. Because he wrote a work of FICTION! I don't know why this piece of information is always left out of the Dan Brown discussion.

His detractors are doing just fine writing and, one would assume, SELLING, book after book denouncing Dan Brown. Considering the money they are making off his name, they should celebrate him!

No matter what the Catholic Church wants us all to believe, that institution has some serious 'splainin' to do on any number of subjects. Besides, this is still America and we have certain freedoms here, including the freedom to write works of FICTION based on any subject.

Bottom line: if you don't like the guy, don't buy his books!

  7. The real question is why wasn't James Frey sued?

He wrote a fiction book and said it was non-fiction.

    Oprah was pissed.

Dan Brown wasn't sued because he didn't write movies, he wrote books.

And the Church didn't have a case; all they would be doing is contesting Brown's freedom of speech.

If you want to see Brown sued for an inaccurate fictionalized protrayal of the Freemasons, then I suggest you start looking at all the other fictionalized portrayals of the group out there ("From h**l" does a great job making them look like secret society).
