    a bridge made of water? doubt it.

    do you mean why is the bridge called "water-bridge" in german? because german is a language that strings words together. It should be translated as "bridge over water" or just "bridge"


  2. I assume you mean the canal over the Elbe, this site: http://www.snopes.com/photos/architectur... says: "the water bridge will enable barges to avoid a lengthy and sometimes unreliable passage along the Elbe"

    Therefoer;  "why bridge is made" was for transportation (as are most bridges).

    Apparently things are being transported by barge and it was desired to make journey more efficient, in many places railroads are more common than canals, and I'd think a railroad bridge would be cheaper, but if they were already using barges it must have been decided it was better to keep using barges.
