  1. To reduce the pressue acting on an unit area of the wall..

  2. are they?

  3. Of all the solid geometrical shapes spheres enclose the greatest volume per surface area.  So most water tanks are spherical, or nearly so, because they are cheaper.

They also are a very strong shape needing less reinforcement making them cheaper yet.

  4. It not always round..its better to be round (Mostly by Price)

The traditional shaped round tank is always the best option if you have the room because the cost to achieve volume becomes less as you get into the bigger litre-age.

  5. Because this is the optimum shape that allows for water pressure to be same at all points in its inner surface.  This can be shown mathematically.  This will be discussed in your Math class.

Shapes like rectangular or squared sides (or cube-shaped) are easier to make/fabricate but internal pressure will be higher at the sharp corners such that failures can be expected in these areas of the tank.

  6. Because if they were square then as the water drains there would be mold and rust in the corners.

  7. i think because a round object makes up more space (needed to store water) using less materials.
