When I use some browser like Firefox to download the pictures or some flash video, I expected I can change its name before it was downloaded. But it comes out different. After it finished, it became an unknown file. Why?

  1. the first thing that comes to mind is that you have to save the picture to your computer before when you download it. if you dont know how to do this, here are the steps:

right click on any picture > Save picture As > rename it to whatever you like > Save

there you go. the reasons why it becomes an unknown file i dont know. you might want to reinstall firefox or use another browser to download pictures.

  2. Hello

If you rename the file, make sure you do not change the extension.

    Example:  .mp3

As others have stated, if the extension is missing or changed it will not be recognized by any of the associated programs.

    Using right Click:

Try right clicking on the picture (this does not always work - some sites have this feature disabled). If a menu appears, click on Save as if available.  If Save as is available, you can enter a custom name, and select where the picture is to be saved to.

Save as feature is not available:

If open with is an option when you right click opened it with an photo editor.  You should be able to use save as.

    Right click feature disabled:

In this case you must download it to your Hard Drive, Go to the location where it is saved and rename the file.

    Hope this helps

  3. Perhaps you also accidentally changed the file extension so the file becomes unknown

  4. i think you changed the file extension. when you try to name it make sure you leave the .jpeg or what ever it is.
