Why we never realise how lucky we are till we see someone suffering more?

I'm asking this because today in the morning,I was cooking something when I got the tip of my finger burnt that I kept complaining from the pain.

few hours later,I went to work-in hospital- when suddenly arrived a guy who got all his arm burnt.

only when I saw how bad was his burn and how severe was his pain, only then when I said hamdollah and forgot about the pain which kept annoying me for hours....

I just don't understand why we don't appreciate what we have till we see someone who's in worse conditions than we do?

  1. Smart question, i don't have an answer though! cause i keep saying this to myself and to others.

We should thank Allah for whatever happens to us, cause there's someone out there has much more worse problem.

  2. human nature

but i assure you that not all humans can understand just like u did the nature they should control

may allah guide you more to his right way dear

  3. It is the need for a point of reference, which is hard-wired into our brains. How do you know how small an ant is if you've never seen an elephant, etc.

It is part of our growth as Human Beings that hopefully as we grow older and wiser, we continually develop our sense of empathy for others.

  4. Elhamdolelah for everything Pinka

remember that in every conversation we have together we come up with this conclusion in the end, right?

    Salamtek ya gameel

  5. Simply because thats human nature ...

Without suffering there would be no compassion ...

  6. It is a human nature Pinka.

Only people with strong faith in God and good understanding of what life is, will thank Allah for the good and the bad.

How is your finger now by the way? is it the one you play Chess with?  :):).

  7. this is signs God send us, to thank him and really realize how blessed we are... but if you wanna know why.. its hard to answer.. cause its human nature...

anyway sorry for your fingertip and take care next time..

what was you cooking BTW ?   :D

  8. It is exactly what you said ... it is our human nature that doesn´t let us realize how good we have it ...until we see how bad others are doing. I am so blessed but, as any human being I tend to complain about things. Then I remember ppl  close to me who are suffering so much and I pray for God´s mercy on them and me (for being ungrateful).

Take this saying as an example: " there´s no place like home, where we are treated the best and grumble the most".  Yet, so many don´t even have a home...

    Here´s part of a beautiful e-mail I received:

    Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to Heaven

Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep -

Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive-- Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us is without sin.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around.

  9. I agree with shalfat,
