  1. No, but they do have to be driven to the stores, which does have a cost in gas.

  2. cows and chickens do eat?

and the bulk goes to the lobbists who represent the milk companies not the farmers.

The eggs and milk are cheap as is the grain that goes into a box of cereal. Ask Cramer on Cnbc who says buy general mills. Profit profit profit

  3. Because the price of the feed used to feed cows and chickens has increased dramatically thanks to the grand idea of mandating ethanol development.

Usually milk and eggs decrease in the summer months as summer pasture naturally provides more grass for grazing. expect the prices to shoot up again as we go into winter though.

  4. No.China is importing tons of our food as they have a growing middle class.

  5. The cost of getting them to market is what is making it so expensive. Not to menction the price of feed is going up too.

  6. We are not buying milk or eggs from Saudi araboia directly.  We are buying petroleum to make gasoline and diesl fuel for the shipment of milk and eggs.

  7. No, but grain is up, too and the cost of transporting the goods to the store is up due to gas prices.

I don't buy eggs from the store anymore. About a mile out of town, there is a farm and they sell farm fresh eggs. I buy a dozen for .89 cents.

  8. Apparently the cows and chickens are on strike.
