  1. I dont think so that it harms us!!! I think it's good to eat after lunch.


  2. Because if we eat fruit after lunch then what did we eat in the lunch.

  3. Bananas, melons and grapes do not mix well with other foods so it is better to eat them alone in between meals.  Other fruit can be eaten anytime.

  4. Fruits are rich of minerals, protiens and all that.

    our stomach is full of acids and all that. and when food come in contact with it it start becoming ... say becomes pulpy (Trying to say in least yukhee way).

    So when we eat a meal it slowly moves down and if we eat the fruits after a meal it also moves slowly staying on top of food layer. it takes 2 to 24 hours to digest a meal so the fruits will become rotten in your own tummy and will be bad for health as they will secrete [or leake out :-) ] acids and other bad stuff.

    For e.g. if you eat a orange after a meal you'll definately not feel bad after a hour or two as it contains citrrus acid.

    We all think that eating fruits means simply  buying fruits, cutting it and just popping into our mouths.

    Fruits should be taken in empty stomach... not as a deserted meal as is often done. If you eat fruit like that it will also serve a major role to detoxify your system, supplying with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

    Lets say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit:

    As fruits digests faster than bread, the slice of fruits digest quickly and ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but its passage is blocked by the bread which takes longer to digest….In the mean time the whole meal ferments and turns to acid. Consequently when fruits, come into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil. So it is better to eat fruits in empty stomach or before your meal!

    You have heard people complaining:

    1. Every time I eat watermelon I burp,

    2. When I eat durians my stomach bloats up,

    3. When I eat banana I feel like running to toilet etc.

    Actually this all will not arise if you eat the fruits in empty stomach.

    The fruits mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence bloat!

    If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

    thats wrong ,i am an intern in medicine ,instead i would advice u to take fruits like apple,orange etc after meal . they contain roughage(what u call fibres) which are so important in digestion. Secondly, they are such a good source of vitamins and minerals,

    so stop worring and enjoy fruits after meals

    i noticed some are worried about citric acid in fruits, dont worry about that hydrochloric acid present in stomach has pH 3 which is stronger than citric acid.

    The mucus membrane in stomach acts as a protective layer against acid, factors like smoking, helicobacter pylori, excessive spicy food break this layer which causes ulcer formation.. certainly not fruits.

Some maintain, food takes longer time for digestion whereas fruits have a shorter period of digestion and therefore, taking fruits alongwith food delays the digestion of the fruits.  To my mind it has not much substance.  The functions of stomach are too complex to be simplified so at the time of stomach dysfunction.  At the same time it is so simple when you are healthy, you take anything it will digest!!. It is said, doing regular Mayurasan bestows the Yogin with the powers of a peacock.  The peacock is said to have the powers to digest anything including poison.  It is the same with "Kaka Sutra", the technique of the Crow.  Crow has a long life, a disease free life and is the greatest of the scavengers, it can eat anything, believed that it can fly any long distance without thirst.   If these are true and stomach can achieve these capacities with these small practices, I think eating pieces of glasses as some people do demonstrate, or eating fruits with food makes no difference, so does drinking water with food.   It is all a matter of the Fire, the digestive power in your stomach.

Because fruit takes 15 mins to digest, whereas the lunch you consumed, probably takes 90 mins or more, depending on what you ate.  Since your stomach is a hot, moist environment, the fruit will ferment very quickly, and begin to release acids into your bloodstream, which makes you prone to bacterial infections, candida, and general illness and malaise.  

    Fruit is best eaten alone, on an empty stomach for best results.
