Why we teach number to children?

why teach numbers to pre-primary school?

so they can count?  get a head start on their education. It's the basic skill for small and younger children - count how old they are, count how many cookies they have.

To guide them in Maths for the upper levels

Kids are starting to count by that age, so they need to know the words and how counting and adding and such works.

because numbers are necessary to life. without knowing their numbers, how will they understand age, money, or simply how many pieces of candy they eat? plus, most kids are expected to know numbers and abcs before entering kindergarten these days. and kids like to learn.

It is pre-math. This gives them the idea of groups. It adds to the concept of a square has four sides, a triangle three etc. Just like looking at books and words is pre-reading. Using pencils and scribbling is the beginning of writing, it is pre-reading. This was an interesting question.

coz it's very easy to spell and remember to pre-primary kids and interesting to know that whatever things they have with them is more or less such as counting fingers, toys,candies, friends etc.

To help them start off their education, same reason we teach them abc's.

A large percent of these children will be going on to the Public school and they require you to know your numbers and letters by the time you enter into Kindergarten. It is just a requirement. Gone are the days when Preschool was all about playing and learning to get along with others and numbers and letters were saved for First grade.
