Why wear a wetsuit when surfing?

When the water is too cold for surfing bare the wet suit traps a thin layer of water which your body warms up helping keep a comfy core body temp

so in another word to keep you alive, plus it gives you a mental edge kinda just because youre thinking that the neoprene would avoid cuts if you fall and the fins happen to graze you

It keeps you warm, even in Cali water. When I surf I dont use a wetsuit, and I went in February twice this year, I REALLY wished I had a wetsuit.

All the great reasons above, and a lyrca wetsuit would also protect you from sometimes lethal jellyfish stings as well :)

It gets cold in the winter.  A wetsuit lets you surf during the cold weather season.  If you only surf during summer you will never advance much as a competent surfer. Also, around here you would die if you went in the water without one in the winter.

because it keeps you warm. even on a warm day the water can be cold, if you have a wetsuit you can stay out longer.

Plus they help a little bit when it comes to bumps and grazes when surfing rocks

to keep u warm and ur skin protected. i wouldnt really do that if i were them. id just wear a bikini w/ board short or somthing. cus it doesnt look comfortable. and its easy for me to get used to the water of the beaches

A wetsuit can protect u from the shells and rough sand if u whipe out often like i do, or they can keep u warm in cold water!
