  1. Maybe because they are American owned

EASYER TO BOARD WITH ARMS AND DRUGS .

and they are mostly full with Americans, the people they are after and hate.

They get more of a kick when they take an American down with them.

  2. The two main factors would have been easy access to the pilots cockpit and the amount of fuel on board. It might have just been coincidence that those two filled the bill. The terrorists wanted planes that would have the maximum effect and those two were it.

  3. Both were painted with the colors of the U.S. Flag.

  4. Poor security checks? Aircraft design (interior, easy access to cockpit, aisle size, visibility within aisles, number of personnel on board, aircraft size, length of flight (some airlines only fly short routes, which means less fuel, whereas AA and UA are international carriers, which means they carry more fuel in the airplane tanks)). There are too many possibilities to single out why they chose AA and UA. However, they could have just chosen them at random as well. Who knows.

  5. Long flights, light loads, big planes, lots of fuel.

  6. Bush knew the heads of those airlines. Bush was trained to fly those types of planes, and when he flew the planes into the WTC he knew they wouldn't be angry at him for ruining their airplanes.

Bush flew both of the planes into the WTC and Cheney flew the one into the Pentagon..Rosie O'Donnell and Dan Rather have a source.

  7. If you read the Congressional report on the issue, it appears the answer has nothing to do with the names of the airlines.  "United" doesn't imply anythhing relating to the USA, while American does.

In terms of the answer saying the flight paths went over the twin towers is simply incorrect... with all due respect. (Newark, Boston and Dulles flights went no where near NYC).

What it appears is that those flights were picked for the following reasons:

    1. They were large aircraft on transcontinental flights and would be loaded with lots of fuel.

    2. They flight loads were fairly light for that mornng, making them easier targets.

    3. A possible 3rd reason which was never able to be100% confirmed was that since at least Boston airport was scoped out prior to the attacks, security was easier to pass through at that location.

Hope this helps answer your question.

  8. The tickets were on sale and the hijckers were on a tight budget

  9. Because of the flight destination.  The path put them over the towers.

  10. I think part of the reason is said in the name of the airlines,

    "American", "United".
