  1. Read "Gums, Germs & Steel" if you don't have time to read the book, National Geographic did a special on it. It explains why civilization started, how it started & why it expanded in some places & not others.

  2. The Egyptians lived in a protected area that could sustain a large population. It allowed them to devote time to building and enjoying life. If you have to be fighting enemies or looking for food, You can't do that. The society was relatively stable, so the population could thrive

  3. because they were among the first people on earth

  4. It is largely accepted that mankind had its beginning in Africa the "Cradle of Life". So it should stand to reason that those living closest to this origin, this genesis, would develop before those 'hunter gatherers' who traveled a far greater distance. Once the future Egyptians created, strengthened their commerce they would require centers of trade for this new business. Cities. To protect this wealth they would eventually create gates and walls. You can see where this leads to.

  5. Where did you get that info?? There has been many before and after them. Most of what they claim is not fact Like the building of the pyramids. There are hundreds of fairy tales by people who don't know beans about history just rewrote some of the travelers tales and sold them to ??. That's like the story in the bible of Adam and Eve only people on the planet till the serpent and her first child by him who later killed Adams son. He went to the land of Nod and married and had children where did  the land of Nod come from and who were the people??

  6. they weren't. it was the hunters and gathers from Mesopotamia who decided to begin living in a sedentary lifestyle.

  7. The Nile river had a regular flooding bringing rich soil to the area.

  8. Because the Egyptians, like their contemporaries, the Sumerians, of Mesopotamia, were among the first to implement field irrigation. This meant they could have greater-sized harvests, which required more workers, at a single location...

This led to storing food, for more than one season. Civilization simply means city...

  9. people will debate that forever and there is no way to really know.  I think beer had somthing to do with it.  Beer, is there anything it cant do.

  10. They weren't the first, but they were the most famous because of their unique "architecture".

  11. The very early civilisation in Egypt was due to the hunter gatherers ability to develop an agrarian society in the close proximity to the Nile river and its tributaries in the western delta region.

This is the area where there earliest evidence of settlement by humans has been located dating at c7000-3500BCE which is regarded as the Neolithic era.The major settlement of Merimda Beni Salama was located on high ground ,which would have protected them against the annual inundation of the Nile and covers an area of approx. 44acres. at the height of its occupation there were likely as many as 5,000 people living there on a permanent basis..

It would appear from excavations carried that they quickly developed skills in husbandry and agriculture and built permanent dwellings and stockades.

The inhabitants of this early civilisation cultivated emmer wheat, barley, lentils and vetch and raised goats, cattle and pigs. their diet was supplemented when necessary with desert game of gazelle and antelope and more than 20 varieties of fish have been identified from excavation samples taken from the site.

Trade links were  established between other settlements.

There is evidence that trade links were already established between the developing Egyptian civilisation and those being founded along the Tigris river basin.
