Why were some riders on the tour to france given newspapers at the top of the mountain on stage 7?

  1. They stuff the newspaper in the front of their jersey when they are about to descend after a mountain top climb when their body temperature will be elevated, the paper stops the cold air from chilling their upper body on the fast descent, at the bottom they discard the paper.


  2. To keep them warm on the downhills. Newspaper blocks the wind and insulates.

  3. They put the newspapers in the front of their jersey's to keep them warm on the desent.... then they take it out and throw it away when then get to the bottom of the hill.....
