  1. Both have underdeveloped young ,that are born extremely small and have to suckle from their mother inside a pouch. Both are Marsupials(commonly known as Pouched Mammals)

The Kangaroo has a true pouch, and the Tassie tiger has a fold of skin that acts as a pouch. So related as a species, but not same animal.

In fact all Australian mammals I think are Marsupials, except bats and I think there maybe a native rat (but not %100 on that one). Also the Platypus and Echidna which are Monotremes.Which means they lay eggs and suckle there young. The platypus also has a small fold of skin that acts as a pouch. The Dingo(or native dog)came from Asia with the Aborigines and is believed to be the reason why the Tassie Tiger was extinct on the main land when Europeans arrived in Australia.

    Strange creatures over here!

  2. The Thylacine resembled a large, short-haired dog with a stiff tail which smoothly extended from the body in a similar way to that of a kangaroo.

  3. Despite their physical differences, they are both marsupials—mammals born undeveloped that must ride on their mother for the first part of their lives.

  4. The Tasmanian Tiger or Thylacine (recent extinction) was a marsupial that had a pouch for rearing it's young, just like a Tasmanian Devil, Kangaroo or Koala.

A marsupial is an ancient form of mammal that died out in most of the rest of the world eons ago.

There was a natural channel in Indonesia (Wallace line) that cut off New Guinea and Australia from having any 'land bridge' during the Glacial periods (ice ages) so these animals became isolated and so you find marsupials on this side of the Wallace line.

Some people believe that they still exist and report sightings in Tasmania, and as far away as Nannup in Western Australia. It is highly unlikely that any have survived, but searching for them is as popular as searching for a yeti or bigfoot.

  5. Their Maternal Great Grandmother.

  6. they both have Australian passports
