  1. to the first answerer, don't you find it hilarious that the only ones complaining about the inhumane treatment of the chinese are the americans? if you ask me, or any other chinese/chinese americans, i think their doing just fine.

and to answer your question, it's because people are just whiny punks, they think the world revolves around them, you know, you can't win everything.

  2. yo im from america and i watched the olympics and their isnt any controversal about it. they done a great job. and ur the same person that ask about how unfair itwas at gymnastic. letrts face it. the chinese r better than us at gymnastic. i mean they got lui xiang. so stop hating

  3. It's not inhumane treatment of their fellow chinese citizens... It's inhumane treatment of the Tibetan people BY the chinese government.

Tibet was invaded and occupied by Chinese communist troops almost 60 years ago. Since then the unique culture, religion and basic human rights in Tibet have been rapidly eroded. At least half a million Tibetans have died and many more have been tortured and imprisoned.

Currently it is illegal to even possess a picture of HH the Dalai Lama, and people are being thrown in prison and brutally tortured for simply stating the opinion that he is a good man. Why? Because the Chinese government is threated by his peaceful, compassionate ways as it would make their people very difficult to control as they do now.

In March 2008, thousands of ordinary Tibetans made a stand for freedom, taking to the streets in protest. The Chinese government's response was to throw all journalists and foreigners out of Tibet and bring in tens of thousands of troops to squash all demonstration and to continue to hide the truth about Tibet from the eyes of the world.

China's hosting of the Olympics Games attempts to convey the impression that everything is harmonious within it borders. In fact they are doing everything in their power to silence dissent during the Games. Athletes have been told they should not speak out about Tibet or human rights in China during the Games.

The Olympics should never have been held in China in the first place, but they wanted the attention so they promised to improve human rights if they were allowed to host the Olympics, but the brutal crackdown on protests in Tibet clearly broke this promise, as well as trashing the ideals of the Olympics.

  4. Lots of people disliked the Chinese government, causing controversy.

Lots of outdoor athletes also complained about the pollution in China.

  5. Because of China's inhumane treatment to its people.

    Also communist country.

  6. to the first poster, who cares about inhumane treatment. this world is built upon atrocities commited directly towards others especially in third world countries. so who gives a rats' *** you pompous a*****e.

  7. The Olympics are considered controversial because people made it seem that way. There are people influenced by biased anti-Chinese media and believe whatever they see on the television. Nobody realizes that the news isn't 100% accurate.

Yes, it is undeniable that the Chinese Government deny people their right of religion and heavily abused the Tibetan monks, but it's because the Tibetan monks controlled the Tibetans as slaves before the Chinese Government came in to stop the monks from abusing their power. The Tibetan monks are just angry that they don't have the luxury they had before the occupation. The Chinese Government wants to prevent this from happening again.

Honestly, I don't think most protesters care about Tibet, they just want to look like an important person. I used to believe Tibet should be free, but that's because I was only following the crowd. Even the Dalai Lama doesn't want Tibet to be an independent country, he wants autonomy. People should find answers on their own and not by watching biased news nor listening to closed-minded people.

Besides, the Chinese people worked really hard to prepare for the Olympics so that everyone can enjoy it. People should be more positive and support their athletes.

I'm not Pro-Tibet nor Pro-China, I just know my history and believe this issue is beyond my reach. People can protest all they want, it won't change my opinion.

  8. Well there is always controversy in the olympics with doping but I guess it you mean overall why they are controversial it's because they are being held in communist China who has a terrible human rights record and obviously the whole Tibet situation where they refuse to surrender control.

  9. are you kidding???  what planet do you live on?  all people have been talking about on here is china, china, china!

  10. well, they replaced a little girl because she wasn't cute enough, then the fireworks were done by computer,I just think that China isn't a fair country at all
