  1. in 1999 / 1991 about 500,000 american soldiers came to saudi arabia. they were VERY visible and with military dresses.

There were ZERO violent incidents against them.

After Kuwait was liberated, many troops were still visible. Economy started to go down. From time to time Iraq is bombed with no reason.

People started to feel uncomfortable and started to draw so many different conclusions.

  2. How would you feel if you had saudi troops in your country to protect you ?

  3. like h said, they arnt the biggest fans of isael, and US close allys with them. i dont know much, but how would you feel if a bunch of suadi soldiers where walking around you city with guns and such. would you feel safe with a country you barley know? many saudis dont like US though. because of israel, and how we pretty much boss other countrys around, and have only been around like 300 years and are so much stronger

  4. ......the answers above are so shallow......they can't think of what is really the primary reason for this.....lolz.....if the answers above were true, Saudi people are mostly likely not thinking enough for just hating americans for coming here and because coming near to the holy cities, blah blah blah, etc......roflmao! I am really shocked to read the answers above......First of all, lets history reminisce it all......Americans trigger and pioneered the oil drilling in this desert.....come to think of it, without America, can Saudi be as prosperous as of now? just Imagine it......didn't you know that because of oil, Saudi Arabia beat other countries for being the fastest to prosper in terms of economy and infrastructures in less than a hundred year.....its an amazing accomplishment really......also, because of this oil, Saudi people were educated and sent to UK and America to be competitive professionals......its a big leap actually......really, I can't think of anything that Saudi should get angry with America. Aramco already took 100% ownership of that oil from America there's nothing to be angry of, right? Those people who are angry just doesn't know the real story.....its as plain as that.....if they say because of Religion, It means they're not mature enough to respect other religions that exist in this world.....few people have bad experiences with Americans but that doesn't mean the whole country do the same......everyone has its faults and mistakes, don't you think everyone deserves a second chance? Who are you to judge when you're not God, right? ......those who are angry are being judgmental for the wrong reasons and there's no respect to other religion......I'm thinking what if expats/foreingers were not here anymore, can Saudi people alone do it? I doubt it.....they can't even clean their house without a foreign maid......lolz.....this is the gist, don't judge anyone without looking on your dirt first as if your clean 100%......but if you convince me, that you can do it alone even without a single foreigners/expats working here, I'll change my mind on my views over this.....

  5. believe it or not saudis werent that angry at the goverment before 9/11 but after it saudis started thinkin wow we let them in take the oil and now we insult our religion

  6. .Sorry..but no violence against the troops in Saudi? You're kidding right? We lived there when the barracks in Al Khobar were bombed and 19 American soldiers died......hundreds wounded...That's why they are no longer in the populous cities, but they are still there out in the middle of the desert.

No country wants a foreign presence on their soil...no one its the antithesis of SOVEREIGNTY right?

  7. The American troops were not stationed in KSA to protect the country. The only reason was to make sure the Iraqis did not cross the Kuwait border and try to seize territory in Saudi Arabia, which has the world's largest supply of oil. They did this for there own interests and not to protect KSA. Americans had learned after the 1973 Mideast War, when Saudi Arabia and other oil exporters temporarily cut off oil to the United States what a vital role the KSA plays in the U.S. economy.

The strong military presence in KSA has caused much Arab resentment because of its nearness to Islam’s holiest sites and many Saudis were angry with America’s strong alliance with Israel.

edit Carl: My answer was regarding American troops and not regarding Americans in general. Don't you think it's a difference if you have foreigners working in your country or a foreign military base?

  8. i heard otherwise. some saudi explained it to me like this.

imagine you hire an expensive bodyguard for a job in your apartment building, once said job is completed, the guy threatens you with secrets he knows about you, and starts harassing your tenants. not following the building rules and demanding free room and you pay every expense he makes.

when the tenants complain that the money you pay him should be used to better maintenance and you should kick him out for bad behavior, what would you do?

  9. I like daillida's answer..

and are you so sure the american troops have left?

  10. Because Muhammad forbid non Muslims from entering the Arabian Peninsula, they use that as an excuse.  But they say nothing about all the Hindu Indians and Christian Filipina "maids" because they are too lazy to work and the men need foreign women to cheat on there wives with and the wives need a punching bag
