Why were there no more moon shots after Americans believed we actually went there?

Isn't it natural to go again and again, set up labs and businesses and even colonies, if indeed man made it to the moon in 1969?

Why did America abandon the most promising real estate of all?

I don't believe we ever really landed on the moon. I believe governments are capable of using media and visual arts to convince us of practically anything, just as a magician can trick a crowd.

  1. The population got bored with all the success. The Vietnam war,  recession, gas shortages, Nixon and all the other things this country had to deal with took precedence. We had beaten the Soviet Union to the Moon, so our national pride had been maintained. That was the primary political goal. After that the Congress quickly drained the funding away. It is incredibly expensive to go there, so they used our money for other projects. Go to the Space Center in Florida and quit reading conspiracy books.

  2. it is all hoax , the lunar landing in 1969, just like you said, of course there are precious minerals on moon like our own planet, still upto these date , we do not have capabilities to land on the moon.

  3. Trespassing. They all put make up.

  4. Before there will be labs, businesses, and colonies, there needs to be a monetary reason to be there.  The early moon landings were merely exploration and a test of our technology--we wanted to see if we could get up there, and what we'd find when we did.

If we had found diamond mines or something, we would have gone straight back.  However, setting up a permanent base at that point would have been more costly than it was worth.  We built what we needed next--a space shuttle that would allow us to deploy and maintain satellites that serve the world's needs.  A moon base would not have helped us reach that goal, and people already whine about how much the space program costs (even though it really isn't that much in the big picture).  A moon base could help us with future exploration of our solar system, as it would be easier for a craft to escape the moon's gravity than earth's, which would allow exploration of Mars without needing a vehicle that could leave earth's gravity and reenter earth's atmosphere.

  5. The U.S. and the Soviet Union both went to the moon after Apollo 11, but the real reason the U.S. went to the moon was the rockets that put men to the moon were the same kind of rockets that launched nuclear missles.  If you saw the movie Apollo 13, you will see why the U.S. stopped.  Basically people were not that interested (based on low TV ratings) in the Apollo 13 moon mission until after there was onboard trouble.  Just like a TV show with poor ratings, the mission were stopped for the lack of interest.

  6. Gregory, the moon landing was in 1969 and again, I believe in 1971.  In 1972, Carl Bernstein and Abe Woodward, two reporters for the Washington Post figured out that something called "Watergate" was the biggest scam hoisted on the American people, that our then president, Richard M. Nixon, was ACTIVELY deceiving the American people regarding his involvement in a cover-up of the burglary of the Democratic Headquarters in the Watergate Hotel that Nixon personally sanctioned.

By 1973, despite being surrounded by amoral spin doctors, Nixon was on the run.  By 1974, he had resigned in disgrace.  Suddenly, everybody wanted to be an investigative reporter-the colleges were full of journalism students.

Do you think that in that era of suspicion and paranoia of elected officials, such a scam, i.e., faking the moon landing could take place?

We didn't go back and forth, because frankly, we were still fighting the Viet Nam war, and such expeditions are enormously expensive AND dangerously unreliable.  That's why there are no McDonald's on the moon, or Malls of America.

It's your right to believe what you want.  But dude, do yourself a favor and keep an open mind, particularly at your age.

    *Edit 1*

Why did we abandon the most precious real estate?  Easy: there was no oil on it to be had, or anything else, for that matter. It's a burnt crisp of a dead celestial object.  There's not even any effing monsters on it.

I'm afraid that there's no one blinder than he who just won't see.
