Why were there so many strikes in the US directly after WW1?

I think it had to do with IWW or something. The IWW general strike idea i remember reading about it somewhere.

P.S. what were the demand of the strikers

  1. The war veterans of WW1 were denied their war bonus. In Washington DC they took up a veterans camp, and were routed by armed saber carrying troops led by Douglas MacArthur
