  1. People who fight, Warrior paladins and even the mystics often battle with the same weapons they are used to. Among them the more innovative ones will often modify their weapons according to their likes and preferences, what they might see as an improvement.

Take for case, a longsword. While a common weapon would have a double edged blade, both equal in angle and thiness of the blade. Me being the warrior, found that l often use only one side of the blade and most of the things l'm fighting are not that armored. l would modify my longsword to have one side, the right side to have a sharper edge than the other while thickening it's blade so that l may swing harder. This would make the other side less harmful but since l use it to deflect attacks most of the time, it wouldn't be much of a problem .

After modification, l found it much better to use in combat. l lent it to a friend, who wanted to try out sword training and ended up finding he also found it more efficient to use.

Words spread and l became the inventor of the design, now suppose my name is paracelsius. This sword design would be named after me, the armies who manufacture this sword would know me because l invented the sword.

Same with spells, bows and even potions.

  2. I agree with the first answer.. They were named after people who either invented them, used them greatly.. Or showed great usage of them.
