Question:

Why were this years Macy's NYC Fireworks so awful?

Just think, thousands of hard working New Yorkers of every ethnicity trudge down to the east river waterfront with their family's to catch a glimpse of the famous Macy's fireworks only to find out they are now only located near Brooklyn and Jersey City! Standing in the rain, thinking the barges are still located up as far as 34th street, they are now straining to see the now far away show through warehouses and buildings. Shame on the organizers, Macy's and the City of New York! This is supposed to be the people's holiday!

  1. IDK I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPEN

  2. I couldn't agree with you more-this year it sucked!  Although you could see the fireworks from the FDR Drive in midtown, it wasn't the same Macy's placed the barges too far downtown.  As for the reply from casapulla2001, who states if you were a New Yorker you would know this and that- firstly, the barges were not located in Midtown this year (when I mean midtown, I mean 30th Street and up)-the barges were from the Battery to about 24th Street (not midtown to many NY standards).  Last year the barges were spread out more along midtown, with one all the way up in the 40's by the UN building.  Also, this was not the first year that it rained-it rained last year!  So get your facts straight before claiming to be the "uber New Yorker" (when you probably live in Long Island City).

  3. the so called music was lousy. what a bunch of nothings including the really bad opening song. where did they find that moron?

  4. That's because we're in a recession. They used to have two barges near the brooklyn bridge and one near Liberty Island as well as up and down the East River. But this year there was only one.

Luckily I was in Brooklyn down from the Bridge. Best seat in the house. Directly in front of the barges. But yeah it was kind of spare this year. No super finale. It was totally evident that they were cutting back.

  5. Because millions of New Yorkers weren't smart enough to stay OUT of the rain- & watch them on TV- like I did! I thought they were GREAT!  :)

  6. because we are all poor due to george w bush

  7. maybe because the stock market has been in a rut (preforming poorly).

    >.>

  8. i think macys has lost a lot of money this year and cut back on celebration cost ....

i feel you ... my towns fireworks were pretty sad too , they fired off a lot in every direction but i couldnt see anything , just heard boom boom boom

  9. what are you crying about...we can't even see them from florida. macy's sucks!

  10. Where've YOU been?.. it's been organized this way for DECADES. 3 barges midtown, one downtown. straining to see it in warehouses -- it's EXACTLY the same, Einstein and all that was different was the camera-angle for home viewers (like you) -- by the way, where are you, somewhere in the suburbs and pretending to be New Yorker?

(and the barge by Jersey City hasn't a thing to do with Macy's, its local to them in NJ)

    ___

They cut the end short BECAUSE OF THE RAIN... hello? rain and fireworks/fuses and electrical operation don't mix, and sort they slowed/ended it unlike is customary. It never rains DURING the show.. this year, it started toward the end. You'd know that, if you lived in NYC.

  11. dude they ****** it up. i was getin ready til this c**p happend
