In Friday's game in Montreal the BC Lions attempted an illegal forward pass - the player throwing the ball was beyond the line of scrimmage but had already gained enough yards for the first down. The ref ruled that the attempt was illegal, but BC was awarded a first down and the ball was spotted at the point of the foul. Shouldn't there have been a yardage penalty assessed? Are there other penalties in the CFL that don't result in any loss yards and no loss of down?
