Question:

Why when I downloaded Skype my computer now has no audio?

There is no sound at all coming from my computer now after setting Skype up. It won't record my voice on video, nor can I listen to any of my music, that sort of thing, but it recorded and played my voice back just fine with the test call. The webcam works fine and recorded my voice with the test call, but nothing else. It seems to have compromised all audio from my computer. Help?

  1. Now let me think....

    Ah, yes...

    Ger rid of Skype!

    Skype = Hype

    They have such great advertising that everyone now knows Skype.

    the truth is that their service is not that great and they are, also, not that cheap!

    Have a look at Freecall....

    http://www.freecall.com/en/index.html

    FREE calls to UK landlines, Spain, USA, Australia and many more.

    Calls to mobiles are cheaper too!

    Anyway, in response to your question, you are not getting sound because your settings have been changes by Skype.

    It has recognised your microphone and headset (probably) and set them as your default rather than your computer´s speakers.

    Go into Skype´s settings and select your PC´s audio settings.

  2. Try all of the volume controls, including the ones found at Start->Run-> 'sndvol32.exe' if you have Windows or if you have a Mac, the control should be on the keyboard.
