  1. You can keep your own name, take his or he can take yours...

I think more woman are holding onto there names...

  2. Women who change their last names are either "honoring tradition" or don't give a c**p. People can do whatever they want. Hyphenate it, change it, keep it, add something new...didn't you see the "friends" episode when Phoebe got married and changed her name to Princess Consuela Banana-hammock or some **** like that??

  3. The husband can take the wife's last name.  They just need to specify it when they file the marriage license.  And, it can be changed after the marriage as well.  It's more expensive then, but it's do-able.  :)

  4. It doesn't have to be that way. Instead of changing...why not just use both, it's a win win situation.

  5. Lol. That's pretty much the only thing we get.

I know a case of a women beating her husbad with a baseball bat, but when they went to the police, they arressted him instead of her. Now, that's unfail. Basically, what Im tryin to say is taht women have more legal rights, and the last name is very symbilical with very little value.

  6. you can keep your last name. just ask the judge. my sister got married about a month ago and she kept her last name. just research and ask a judge. if you're married already, then idk if you can change it.

  7. Hi , the real reason a woman takes her husband last name is so that you pass down the name to the next generation. That is how you trace the origin of your family, thru the last name.

  8. that is just tradition

as long as your partner agrees, it can be the woman's, or hyphenated, or not changed at all, its what you decide.

  9. If the man agrees to it, he can take your last name.  My niece's husband took her last name because she was the last of the family with that name

  10. You don't have to take his name it's just traditional people are still taking their husbands, some are keeping their own and not that I know anyone who has done this but I'm sure that some man has taken his Wifes name

  11. You and your husband can pick any last name you want.  It's up to you.  You don't HAVE to have his last name, and he can take yours if you both decide on that.  When I was in highschool...twenty years ago...my math teacher went by the name of Mr. Gaylord-Smith.  Gaylord was his wife's last name, Smith was his.  They both went by Gaylord-Smith.  It's up to the couple.  No law on the books says you have to go by his last name.

  12. not only can you keep your name he can take your name if he wishes to.  My husband offered to take my last name so it could continue on since my father had no male heirs

  13. Dear it doesn't "HAVE TO BE" that is the way society has "MADE IT TO BE". You can do whatever you want. If you both want your name than that is what you do.

  14. It can be, but its just not culture here.  They could go by a whole new original name.  But in many people's eyes, if he took her name he would look like a whimp.

  15. It's a traditional symbol.  It's not only a womans way of telling her man that yes, she does in fact belong to him (this isnt a bad thing, not meaning property wise).  But it also serves as a public display to anyone else that yes you are taken.

I don't know why so many dang feminists want to corrupt something that is just a traditional way of showing ones attachment to another.

  16. Either partner can keep their original name, the husband can take the wife's name, the wife can take the husband's name, or they can combine both names and have a hyphenated last name.

Where have you been living that you don't know that?  Research your facts before you bang on about something being unfair.  You are making yourself sound like an dumb brat.

  17. Well, its the cultural thing from day-one that the guy's last name is always being used. Well, fair or not, its up to the couple to decide the best for the family.

  18. when i was married, i kept my maiden name.

we aren't here to be fair... however, you can have any last name you want.
