I think that happens to everybody. People are too selfish and ungrateful to properly appreciate the things that others do.

Think about it: it is much easier to ignore someone who is making your life easier, and say something to someone who is making life harder for you, than it is to praise the person helping you, and not say anything to the one that is bothering you.

Everybody does it to some extent.

I thought that experience was unique to me!  You might be right, that it's human nature, but that's a depressing idea.  I guess it's in the perfect world that it works the other way around.  If it's human nature, would it be because people are too caught up with themselves to take the time to recognize other's good deeds?  And do they take the time to point out the bad deeds to make themselves look better?

Herb is right, negative press always gets more attention, that's just the way humans are. we are also prone to remember insults more than we remember compliments.
