Why when i try to put .avi into windows movie maker it says this....???????

ok when i try to put .avi format into windows movie maker it says this

( C:/.........avi could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.)

honestly im ready to pull my hair out ive tries everything i just dnt know wat to do, can someone please help me!! anything free that doesn't download please!!! e-mail me if any one has to walk me trough steps!!!

You will have to download it if you want to fix your problem.It's called the k-lite codec pack, don't worry,it's safe.

It's probably because you haven't got the codec for avi.
