Why when i walk short distances i get pain in the sides of my back then when i sit it goes away. ?

  1. You could be dealing with something like a bulging or herniated disk on that side (an example only).  Depending on the severity of the problem if it is that if it is mild the sitting might be of some relief to it.

    The only way to find out for sure what's going on is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they say.
