Why when it rains most of the time in the UK?

As soon as it becomes hotter and the sun shines, there is an announcement telling everyone there is a water shortage, and not to use hose pipes to wash your car or water your plants?? What the bloody h*ll do they do with all the water that has fallen for the last 300 days???? lol

The rain is called "run off", because we have overbuilt in this island most of it does not soak into the ground, and has no effect on the water tables, part of the reason that London is sinking is the excessive extraction from underground aquifers, ( storage by nature ),it causes floods when it lies on the ground, and runs off into our streams and rivers, we do not have sufficient storage to collect it in, so we let it go, out to sea... the last reservoir built for public use was at Kielder water in Northumberland, over 30 years ago, like prisons and power stations we do not have enough, and it is this governments fault, they have spent it all on their pet projects, and we now face a massive building bill to get this sorted out....

Cause A lot of land has been covered by non porous surface runoff to the rivers and sea is greater so water table not maintained

Haha I don't know but it's a good question. Honestly the amount of rain we get here is enough to cure the whole world of water shortages!

Everyone has an umbrella in hand in London when they go out. UK is the rainy zone. It`s very surprised lol. Water shortage?!
