Why when using my cr card do I have to suppy my zip if shipping the item but not if I carry it out?

if you ship it out you also must give your mailing address along with your zip code or else how would they know where to ship it.   if you carry it out, who cares where you live? it doesn't matter.   when giving a zip code the shipper also will know how much to charge you by your zip code for shipping from his zip code to your zip code.
