  1. Ha ha!  That always annoys me too!  Happens every time.  Each time, I decide 'Right!  I'm going to wash socks, pants etc. separately in future -not in the same wash as the duvet cover' but do you think I ever do...?!  Glad Life's little wind-ups happen to us all!

The shark reply was pretty apt.  I guess as the duvet has an opening it's going to gather up things as it twists and turns.  A bit like a shark.....

  2. Fasten the duvet cover before putting it the wash.  I suppose a duvet is like a shark with a big jaw and it swallows everything around in the water.

  3. it's to keep the washing machine god happy, like when we sacrifice socks and odd socks are left! lol

  4. What you describe is repeated pretty inevitably on a world wide basis. There appears to be little difference in the result if the machine is operating in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere except that on many occasions in the Northern Hemisphere the duvet cover has been turned inside out in addition to the gathering of the other items of the wash load.

The I.O.B.A (International Old Boilers Association), has entitled the phenomenon you describe as "The Restructured End Game Phenomenon Within the Clothes Washing Fraternity". This of course has been translated into many of the major languages used throughout our planet.

Do not be despondent there is a great deal of research being carried out by various organisations although as one of our colleagues quite rightly points out it can be in the tumble or spin drying operation that a real calamity can occur. The Leader in this particular field of research other than the I.O.B.A is of course The Really Wide Open University based in the Grampians.

  5. Because the duvet cover is stitched on three sides and open on the fourth. Therefore it acts like a bag.

To prevent this happening, if it really irritates you, just do the fasteners up before putting in the machine.

  6. i dont have this problem. i get my duvets washed by my mum whos seventy and very experienced in washing duvets. although i once found her zimmer frame inside my favourite duvet.

  7. For me the problem is not when i wash them, but when you tumble dry  ehehee all the others clothes inside stay wet arrrrgggggg....
