Craig Hanson is still the same pitcher he was when he was drafted.  Sure he has some serious skills, but he hasn't been able to adjust to get big league hitters out on a consistent basis.  He could still turn out to be a good reliever in the majors, but he was going nowhere in Boston.

Yeah but he wasn't amazing in our bullpen. I'd rather put Masterson in the game in the 7th inning than Hansen. We'll be alright with Masterson. He's a rookie who is going to have a great future as a bullpen man. Have you seen how quickly he learned the ropes of the bullpen band?

This whole trade was horrible...when they said they were going to have to trade 2 prospects too i didn't think it was going to be 2 players that contribute to the big league team. They didn't get even close to equal value in this trade

Hansen has never panned out in Boston, but I think with a change of scenery he could live up to what he was supposed to be. I wish him the best of luck in Pittsburgh.

Maybe his 5.58 ERA had something to do with it.

Hansen was supposed to be Papelbon when he was drafted.  Outstanding arm, but has never developed into the closer he was supposed to be.  

Who knows?  He may be good in the future, but as of now, he was expendable.  So he went.

As a Pirate fan, I love it! The Bucs get 3 players that immediately make the major league team, and another in Class A that could someday be a super star. Boston gets a great LF and a class act in Bay.

even if it is the best slider, it will be effective only if he can throw his fast ball for strikes.

he has been a bit of a disappointment.  

it was worth the price, especially as bay is under contract for next year.

Creig Hansen is terrible and no he doesn't have the best slider in the league Alex Cora has a better slider than HIM!
