Why will my computer not play my videos.?

Question

I can download and play pretty much anything from the web, but when I download from my video camera I can hear the audio, but the screen is just black.

I can download the video onto a dvd and play it through my TV or upload to youtube or wherever, but just can't play it on my machine. Any ideas on what settings I need to change?

Check the file format of the video and the software you are using to play it. For example, if it is an m2ts file (AVCHD format), you will require special software (and also a very powerful computer).

MP4 is quicktime. Have you tried to play them with quicktime?? You might want to visit the manufacturer support site for your camcorder & peruse the FAQ's section.
