I have a fujitsu siemens li1718 laptop. My wireless button was not working so I recently installed software to fix this. I installed the software from the fujitsu siemens website. But now windows won't load. It keeps failing. It is telling me to put in my installation disk but I don't have one. Please help! Cheers in advance!

  1. If you can boot into Safe Mode, try doing that and remove the software that you installed then try booting it normally again.  To access Safe Mode, if you don't know already, start hitting the F8 button when it is booting and right before where it would show the Windows logo you should get a menu that pops up on screen.  Choose the Safe Mode option and see if it works.  If that fails, do the same F8 process and choose "Last Known Good Configuration" and that may revert you back to before the software was installed and allow you in.  If neither one of these options work, then you may have to try finding an installation CD to get back in.  Sounds like the software wrote over needed files for Windows to boot for some reason.

  2. You need to describe the failure in detail. State exactly what happens before the failure (Do you get the BIOS hardware screen? Do you see the Windows loading bar?). State exactly what the failure message is, and whether it's text or a graphical box. Include the exact text in the error message. Also, tell us what happens after you get the error? Can you continue? Does it reboot?

You don't give us any details at all. So the answers you are going to get are mostly going to be guesses.

Edit: This could be a hardware problem. I've seen this with a CPU fan failure or a memory problem. You can rule out hardware problems by booting from a memtest86+ CD and making sure the memory/CPU checks out. If that's not it, you probably need to do a repair installation of Windows. You'll need a Windows CD if you want to do it non-destructively. If you don't mind losing everything, order a recovery CD from the manufacturer to put the entire laptop back to factory settings.

Note: This is why you're supposed to have backups. If you did, the answer would just by 'restore from your latest backup'. Acronis Snap Restore would have you back up in 15 minutes.

  3. When you try to turn it on keep pressing F8 until you get a screen saying Load last known good configuration, Boot in safe mode etc. and try booting in last known good configuration.  If that doesnt work try safe mode.  If neither of those get it to boot then youll have to get a system disc or someone with PC repair experience.

  4. try this

take out the battery and charging cable and hold the power button for 20-30 second. Then insert battery and try to start again.

  5. Sounds like its crashed you computer, can you get into safe mode > device manager > expand on network devices > right click wireless LAN > uninstal

Note the software you installed is delivered by windows updates
