Why will my wireless phone jack only connect to Tivo sometimes?

I recently bought a wireless phone jack so I wouldn't have to string a phone cord across the house every week or so to update the Tivo. The problem is that it only sometimes connects. When I go in and look at the status sometimes it says the last connection was successful, and sometimes it says it failed due to "call interrupted". The last two times it failed were times that no one was in the house, so I know no one picked up the phone and interrupted it. We do have caller ID but I have it set so that feature is turned off when Tivo is updating. I've tried changing the dial in number. I don't know what else it could be. It does work some of the time, just not most of the time.

Some models of these adaptors recommend to plug them directly to the outlet and NOT in a power strip. Give it a try and see if it helps. I used to have an RCA model that was pretty bad, like yours. So, it may help to try another brand/model.
