Why won't 150cc scooter won't start up??

This scooter is only 1 day old. I have been driving it around the town with no problems, about 30 miles on it so far. Started up with the kickstart about 15 times. Today when I went to go start it, it wouldn't start. I have not installed the battery yet because I am charging it. Is that the reason it won't start? Because I thought the scooter would start just with the kick start. The gas is plently, the oils are good. The key is turned on, The kill switch is not activated. If I installed the battery will it start or is there someting else I need to do? This is my scooter:

  1. Check your spark plug and put the battery back in.

  2. Yes, I am sure it is the battery.

You need a good deal of power to turn over an engine.

Then make sure you start it in neutral and squeeze the clutch.

  3. some motorcycles dont require a battery to start or to run but some come with them anyway,

Install the battery and if it still doesnt start change or clean the spark plug. Its common for brand new motorbike/dirtbikes to come with a worn spark plug- not sure about scooters.

The bikes brand new so dont stress its only something small if it wont start

  4. It is one of the imports be thankful you got a whole day out of it. Put your battery in and clean your plug and try again

  5. You didn't tell us if you rode those 30 miles without a battery, or let us know the age of the gas you poured in the tank so it's just general advice. This scooter has a generic GY6 engine. They're a pretty common 150cc 4-stroke but unexceptional. I can't see the brand but after 30 miles some Chinese scoots have been known to have all manner of things come loose in them.

Start with the basics. It's a simple equation: air, fuel, spark. The problem is very rarely air. Try to kick start it. Take out the plug. Does the hole the plug came out of smell like fuel? If yes that's a good sign. If no, you have a fuel supply problem: kinked line, plugged vent hole in cap, bad petcock, gummed up carb jet, etc.

Was the spark plug cap loose? That can stop you cold. Does the business end of the plug look wet, oily, and nasty? You're flooded and the plug is fouled. Leave the plug out for a while so some of the gas will evaporate then install a new spark plug. Looks ok? Leave it connected to the plug wire and lay it so the threads are touching the metal fins of the engine. Hopefully you're in the shade. Have a friend look at the plug tip while you go through the kick start motions. A spark should be visible at the tip. No spark? Try putting that battery back in. Everything else that could be wrong is more serious, like stuff coming loose. If this is a brand new scoot what's the warranty?
