Question:

Why won't 2 of my 3 turbine vents spin like the neighbors??

2 of my 3 turbine vents on my roof won't turn unless there's a stronger wind. I've gone on the roof and white lithium greased both and but a level on them, and they are pretty close to level. Also, barely using my finger, of course they spin freely, no noise, etc. Do I have a low pressure system ?

Walking around my soffits, yes, I do have soffit vents and from the attic, I can see sunlight in those areas. I just don't understand why they don't spin like the neighbors.

Even funnier, one of the neighbors turbine vents has almost blown off and is almost sideways, yet THAT one still spins faster than mine, if mine do spin...

  1. do you have trees blocking the wind inline to the vents?  could be dirt.  seems to me that grease of any kind isnt going to help you.  grease just give the wind blown dust and dirt something to stick yo.  anyway, i have seen this many times as i travel, as one will work and another wont.  you are not alone.

  2. I had the same problem and WD40 didn't help at all.

It sounds like a worn bearing, like I had.

A worn bearing will make it harder for the wind to

    make it turn.

You need to either get a new part or new turbines.

  3. no answer just comment. I have the same problem. I have two ridge vents and they are only 6 feet long each, for a 1500 sq ft house. I didn't think it was enough so I added 2 turbines because there are hot spots in house. The turbines won't turn so I plugged up the ridge vents to see if the turbines would turn but no luck. There is light frome soffit vents so now what?
