Why won't 99 Jetta won't start after I fill up the tank with gas?

I have to give the car gas (gas pedal) in order for it to start every time I fill my tank with gas and it will occasionally do this while running errands if it is hot outside. I don't think it's the fuel pump as it runs fine once started. Could it be the fuel injection system (is there still such a thing) I know nothing about cars.

  1. if its a throttle body then the cold start injector is clogged or not working properly

if its multi port injection there could be issues with the controls

try this disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes then reconnect and start car without pressing gas pedal....

if fuel injectors are still suspect after that have a mechanic test and clean them  fuel service  at most places costs around 100 to 150

  2. try a bottle of fuel treatment and a new fuel filter

  3. it could be thaqt it is injected and needs to be reset cause you hit the pedal when starting.
