Why won't anyone hire me?

I have been in the food and beverage industry for about 15yrs now and I just turned 38. I have some great experience and resume material. I have managed multi million dollar nightclubs and restaurants! Top sales was 8.8 million in one year. My last position could no longer afford me and decided that they (the owners) wanted to run things themselves to save the money. I have been interviewing in my field for about 4 months now. Lots of interviews with good companies and lots of comments about how qualified I am. I have tried dressing differently for different jobs, having a well groomed beard to make me look older, and shaving to look younger. Out of state interviews, local..ect...ect But no luck. I'm not ugly (lol) I'm not over weight (160lbs) I am clean cut, confident, normal family guy!? I dont know what the problem is this time around? What could it be?

  1. Might it be that, as a more mature and experienced individual, they would likely have to pay you more?

At what point do they lose interest in you?  If it's when you state your salary requirements, that might be the problem.

  2. Jobs are tough to find in this economy.   Look into hotels, resorts, cruise ships (if you can travel), caterers,    If all else fails, hire a headhunter.  Good luck!
