Why won't mp3 music play on a verizon lg voyager phone?

lg voyager phone is music capable or will it only play they're music you download from them?

You can play any song that you download and put on the phone but its got to be a .MP3 nothing else will work if that dont work and you got it on a SD card you got to reformat the card. Remember take everything off the card when you reformat because it will get deleted if you dont!
