I always have him in bed by 730pm - 8pm every night but the last few nights he just won't go. He cries so hard though i let him cry for a few minutes then i go in and wait again etc. I know he's tired.... could he be having a growth spurt or more teeth coming in? (he has 6 teeth already). Tonight is the worst so far! He has been fed and changed so i know its not that.

Maybe he thinks he may miss something?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

  1. He could just be going through a phase.  Does he have any toys or baby books in his crib that he can look at if he cannot go to sleep?  It could be teething.  I would just stick to your guns about bed time.  However, don't be totally inflexible. If he is really crying hard, try and comfort him by going in and reassuring him.  But if he cries too long (longer than 20 minutes) then I would get him up and maybe rock him and see if that helps.  It is possible that if he is teething it could be bothering his ears.  Have you gone to your pediatrician to have his ears checked?

  2. get used to it, thats just how its is.

  3. Is he not sleepy enough? Why not cuddle him to sleep?

  4. H as he been sleeping more in the daytime? You should look at that as one of the reasons. Or he may be going through the" CURIOSITY STAGE" where he does feel like he has to know everything that`s going on. Finally, he is growing and the need to sleep decreases.

  5. could be a buncha stuff - separation anxiety comes to mind.  Keep to your routine and let him go.  I usually let mine go a good 15 -20 minutes before I go back in to settle them.  Then leave again, same amount or even more.   He will go to sleep.   And you will get through this phase as long as you don't start a new habit, like rocking to sleep or anything like that.

  6. That's really normal for a baby to get fuzzy during the night. The causes might me teething, overstimulated the all day, or the child is not feeling good. Maybe try checking  her temperature, press her belly if she cry harder, might be gassy or stomach ache. try to observe the next time you put him to bed and if he does the same thing, call your  pediatrician.
