Question:

Why won't my 2 stroke pocket bike start?

I have checked and cleaned the carbi and air filter, checked for spark, drained the fuel and made up some more (with the correct ratio), but it still won't start. It doesn't even fire.

Any suggestions to what could be wrong?

  1. you said u drained the fuel , but did you see if the fuel line was clogged? if not that, choke

  2. Most common problems -

Fouled spark plug - change it

Clogged jet in the carburetor - remove the carb, take out the jets and hold them up to the light - you should be able to see through them.

Worn out top end (cylinder, piston & rings) - check the cylinder compression.

If you don't have a gauge - remove the spark plug, press a finger over the spark plug hole and crank the engine - the pressue should be strong enough to blow your finger off the hole to let the compression out.

  3. hey i work at a shop that deals with these bikes all the time. I am 100% sure your carb is bad. We refer all are clients to http://www.xtrememinimotors.com and they really can give you a good deal on parts. Hope this helps

  4. Because it is a toy and they break ,just get a new one.

  5. I have absolutely no clue.

  6. It only needs 3 things to run:  compression, spark, and fuel.

If you have all three, then timing is off, or the air/fuel mixture is either too rich or too lean for combustion.  Make sure you put the spark plug leads on the right plug.  Inspect your spark plugs after cranking.  Wet plugs means either flooded engine (rich mixture) or no spark.  Dry plugs means lean mixture or fuel starvation.

unless "cleaned the carbi" means you disassembled and soaked it overnight in carb cleaner, and blew out the passages with compressed air (or aerosol carb cleaner), then you're not done yet.

remove the jets and clean 'em with a large solid conductor copper wire.
